Arluk Outfitters headed to Texas for the Outdoor Extravaganza!
December 30, 2025Escaping a cold Newfoundland January for a few days in Texas—surrounded by like-minded hunters and great conversation—is an easy win. That’s exactly what the 2026 Dallas Outdoor Extravaganza delivered for the Arluk Outfitters team: reconnecting with old friends, engaging industry partners, and introducing new hunters to the exceptional Newfoundland moose experience Arluk is known for.

One of the biggest conversation starters at the Arluk booth was moose density. Hunters were genuinely surprised by the numbers—and even more impressed by the regional map that clearly illustrates shot opportunity, not just for any bull, but for true trophy-class Newfoundland moose. The map tells an important story: why an Arluk hunt is fundamentally different.

First and foremost, every Arluk lodge is located in a remote, fly-in-only area, inaccessible to the public. Many hunters shared stories of waiting days in camp for a “fly day” with operators dependent on contracted aircraft. That’s not the Arluk model. Arluk operates with two dedicated helicopters and a turbo Beaver floatplane, giving hunters confidence that logistics won’t limit their hunt.

The conversation got even more interesting when hunters learned how Arluk now uses helicopters to sling harvested moose out of the field. Previously, guides relied on Argos—effective but limiting and Arluk is committed to having less impact on the land as Argos can be quite damaging to the terrain. Slinging moose by helicopter is a win on every level: less impact on the meat and the freedom for guides to hunt farther and more aggressively, knowing extraction is efficient and reliable.
Another standout topic that kept hunters at the booth was Arluk’s Tent Hunt Packages. Make no mistake—this is not “roughing it.” These hunts are designed for hunters who want to be closer to the animals, deeper in prime habitat, and positioned for a higher likelihood at a 40”+ bull.

For the 2026 season, Arluk will operate 12 strategically selected tent hunt locations, chosen based on moose density, remoteness, and responsible resource management. Lodge hunts offer excellent shot opportunities, but for hunters targeting the biggest bulls, the tent hunt is the ultimate option.
Comfort is still a priority. The Arluk team has thoroughly tested every element of the tent hunt setup—from high-quality tents, floors, and cots to cooking stoves, seating, and meal prep equipment. Hunters enjoy warm, comfortable camps and hearty, well-prepared meals, proving that being closer to the hunt doesn’t mean sacrificing care or quality.

The questions from Dallas hunters were outstanding, and many will be addressed in upcoming articles—covering topics like firearm documentation, meat processing and shipping, Arluk’s Buy-Back program, packing lists, and what to expect on your hunt. Time and again, we joked that Texas hospitality rivals Newfoundland hospitality, because the conversations felt like catching up with old friends who share the same passion.
There was also plenty of excitement at the booth thanks to Arluk’s show giveaway: a Swarovski EL 10×42 binocular. Arluk is committed to be at all major hunting shows going forward. Congratulations to Grayson Yates, the Dallas winner. Grayson already has a connection to Newfoundland moose hunting through his father and hopes to experience the hunt himself—we hope to see him in camp soon, Swarovski in hand.

All told, the Dallas Outdoor Extravaganza was a great success. Old friendships were renewed, new relationships were built, and more Texas hunters are now planning to experience the rewarding Newfoundland moose hunt in 2026. To wrap up the trip, the Arluk team also stopped by Sitka, KUIU, and Cabela’s—always valuable time spent staying current with the best gear in the industry.

Next up: DSC Atlanta and Harrisburg, both in early February.
