Questions

Moose hunting

Yes. Hunts are guided one-on-one, or with two hunters to a guide.

Yes. Arluk offers caribou hunts.

How do I get to camp?

Some guests fly into Deer Lake (YDF); others take the Marine Atlantic ferry to Port aux Basques and drive to the basecamp. If you fly, we offer a pickup service that takes you from Deer Lake to the basecamp. From a basecamp you are taken to your lodge, usually by helicopter.

How much can I bring?

Total gear weight should not exceed 27.2 kg (60 lb), packed in soft-sided bags with your firearm or bow in a soft case, because of helicopter weight limits.

What happens to the meat?

Meat recovery is helicopter-assisted. Countryside Abattoir offers a variety of meat preparation options. Meat processing and shipping are not included in the package price.

Can I stay in touch with home?

Tent camps have Starlink connectivity, and lodges have Wi-Fi and TV.

When is the hunting season?

The hunting season opens on the second Saturday of September and runs for up to seven weeks.
